What is the purpose of the IHSA?

 The IHSAInfrastructure Health and Safety Association — is an Ontario-based organization whose main purpose is to promote workplace health and safety in industries like construction, utilities, and transportation.

Its key purposes include:

  • Training & Education – providing safety courses, certifications, and workshops for workers and employers.

  • Accident Prevention – developing guidelines, tools, and best practices to reduce workplace injuries and illnesses.

  • Compliance Support – helping companies meet Ontario’s Occupational Health and Safety Act requirements.

  • Research & Resources – producing safety manuals, hazard alerts, and technical information to address industry-specific risks.

  • On-site Consulting – visiting workplaces to assess hazards and recommend safety improvements.

Essentially, IHSA’s role is to make sure workers go home safe at the end of the day by reducing hazards and improving safety culture.
